Lionel Sanders raced his third professional triathlon in 2014 in St. George Utah, he placed 18th, which was nearly 10 minutes behind the winner. Which he says “was discouraging but I continued to work on my swim, bike and run, as well as more technical things like training philosophy and equipment choices.” He’s continued to train and in September of 2014, he placed 4th, only a few minutes behind some of the best athletes to ever do the sport.
Lionel came back in 2016 and won 1st Place in the St George IRONMAN 70.3
“My major motivation now is to push myself to the absolute limit. I am trying to “go through the door” but every time I think I am getting close to the door, it recedes. From my experience, it appears that there are no limits, other than the self-created and imposed ones that only exist in your mind. I plan on spending my entire triathlon career testing this hypothesis.”
Let’s see if he can defend his title! Can’t wait to see on May 6th
